Abstract
Isolated plant mitochondria have the ability to import DNA molecules. In this study, the import of DNA was carried out in a reconstituted system consisting of isolated mitochondria of potato tubers and microsomal fraction (fragmented membrane of endoplasmic reticulum). It was shown that microsomal fraction stimulates the DNA transport into isolated plant mitochondria. We assume that, in addition to mitochondrial proteins, ER proteins can participate in DNA import in vivo.
