Abstract
Plant cell elongation is a unique process. It is based on the activity of plasma membrane H+-ATPase. Tobacco cells of synchronized suspension culture VBI-0 is useful model object to investigate H+-ATPase activity at different growth stages. Proton transport activity was the most intensive at the stage of maximum elongation growth. Acidification was inhibited by Na-orto vanadate and in presence of Ca2+.
