Abstract
Results on investigation of different doses of plant polyphenols on biofilm formation in Escherichia coli are discussed. Inhibiting effects of 100 µM quercetin and tannic acid on biofilm formation have been established. However, the specific biofilm formation was found to be stimulated by quercetin (1-50 µM) and tannic acid (1-100 µM). The connection between the observed effects and activity of the global stress response regulator has been shown. The inhibiting effects on biofilm formation were likely to be related to an excessive accumulation of RpoS in the presence of the certain polyphenols.
