Abstract
The content of photoprotective compounds in the skin of the fruits of Malus baccata, M. domestic and their hybrids, grown in Irkutsk, is studied. In all the samples studied, cis-zeaxanthin was a major carotenoid. In the fetuses of hybrids positive correlation (r=0.77) was found between the content of anthocyanins (An) and ascorbic acid (AA). In the M. domestica, a negative correlation (r=-0.71) between the content of An and the glycosides of quercetin was detected. In the Siberian apple tree, a high content of AA and dehydroascorbate reductase activity was observed.
