Abstract

Comparison of responses of intact freshlyharvested and immobilized resting cells of actinobacteria to benzoate and its analogs was undertaken in order to develop further the method of detection of the bezoate 1,2-dioxygenase (BDO) activity and evaluation of benzoate transport into bacterial cells. It has been shown that the response of intact actinobacterial cells to benzoate characterizes the activity of inducible BDO and the response of immobilized cells (under specified conditions) serves as an estimation of benzoate transport into the cell.
