Abstract
Thermotolerance, induced thermotolerance, induction of Hsp104p synthesis and production of ROS in yeast cells with impaired mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenases were studied. The results obtained showed that Nde2p and Ndi1p play an important role in the yeast cell response to heat exposure. The heat shock causes the Ndi1p output and possibly Nde2p from the mitochondria to the cytosol, resulting in an imbalance between the protective program and the cell death program.
